Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, and Gioachino Rossini are best known for their immortal contributions to the history of opera, but each of these composers poured themselves into liturgical works for choir equal in every measure to their dramatic masterpieces. The adult ensemble of the Buffalo Niagara Choirs is excited to present Verdi’s Ave Maria, Puccini’s Requiem Æternam, and selections from Rossini’s Petite Mess Solennelle on a program that also highlights the contributions of Italian women who composed sacred music. The concert will conclude with a selection of beloved opera choruses whose breadth and power have made Italian Opera famous the world over.
