Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, and Gioachino Rossini are best known for their immortal contributions to the history of opera, but each of these composers poured themselves into liturgical works for choir equal in every measure to their dramatic masterpieces. The adult ensemble of the Buffalo Niagara Choirs is excited to present Verdi's Ave Maria, Puccini's Requiem  Æternam, and selections from Rossini's Petite Mess Solennelle on a program that also highlights the contributions of Italian women who composed sacred music. We conclude our dynamic 2018-2019 season with one of the all-time masterworks for voices and instruments, the Requiem Mass of Gabriel Fauré. We feature this work in its original setting for choir and small orchestra on a program that celebrates the musical legacies of late-romantic French master composers.
